Feminine Candy

When I was a girl, before the mysteries of menstruation and feminine hygiene were explained to me, I would hear wrappers rustling in the stalls of the ladies restroom and I assumed they were eating candy in there. Imagine how disappointed I was to learn that there was no sweet snacking going on.

(Somehow, the thought of eating in a bathroom stall didn’t repulse me as a child.)

Hee hee! When I was a little girl (back when dinosaurs ruled the earth!), the feminine hygiene aisle had big boxes of sanitary napkins in different sizes, brands and colors. My mother always bought the blue Modess box. I had no idea what was in it but I always wondered why she didn't buy any other color.
